stones automatically release when I put power into the throws...

The pouch is also too small

I think these two things go hand in hand.  I have a Y-pouch that I made with paracord.  The pouch area came out just a little bit smaller than I was planning.  Several times when I tried to put some extra power into a throw, the projectile came out way too early.  I'm intending to do another at some point.

Your sling does look great though.  I really like the idea of braiding the cords back together.

When you get the pouch size perfected, would you mind uploading a PDF? I would love to try this type of sling!!!

I think your current design is right on the bleeding edge of what could work. If there is any rocking of the stone or uneven pulling of the retention/release cords, it seems like you could get a early release, because the stone is precariously supported.  I think it would work if you just extend the pouch a cm or two.

I was thinking the same thing. I'll have a go at making another one at some point, that should hopefully work as a proof of concept.

I think you are right, sounds very similar to what I've experienced. When I get around to it, the next one will likely have short cords and big pouch for throwing big stones.Tomas wrote on Oct 9th, 2020 at 5:54am:

I will keep this this in mind when I make the next one at some point, and document the process. If you can't wait until then, I can describe to you in greater detail the process.

This one took the better part of a month to finish... Aussie style split pouch with tapered 8-strand waxed jute. 27-inches long so I can do direct comparisons with my asymmetric slings of the same length.

... and now thanks to the pumpkin challenge... my son keeps asking if we can drop some bricks on this pumpkin too Smiley

Looks like that will last a long time!
8 strand? did you do it free-hand or with a braiding disk?

Freehand... herringbone weave, dropping a strand every 3” or so after the first 9” of 8 strand weaving. Obviously after 4 strands are dropped, it’s just a standard round braid for the remainder.
