Huh... That's actually really interesting. I might try that out.

Trouble with social distancing? Just swing around a six-foot sling at all times.

I've dived into slinging.org history and found another old member talking about this style of pouch.

Here is the whole thread:
http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1095082537/9

Quote:
Leather boot laces, two, are used.  On the left  side of the pouch, one lace is used to form a loop
thru both holes.  It is tied in a boline not.  It will not slip.  Same for the right side.  The rough side
of the leather should be towards the rock, for good control.  You do not want the smooth leather
against the rock.  You will not get power, or be able to spin the projectile.  These two leather loops,
now tied to the pouch, are then tied to the ends of nylon ropes.  These also use the boline knots.

Singe the ends of the nylon, so they do not unravel.  Use the smalled rope that will not break.
You want the weight at the end, to be the rock and you want minimum wind resistance.  This I had
at 6000 feet altitude where I did my slinging!

The advantage of the loops of leather is that leather on leather will not rip thru.  Also, it cinches the pouch around the rock, holding it secure.

The ones on web
do not grip the rock as well, since they depend on braiding techniques and will not automatically balance all forces in the correct directions, as mine does.  They put too much force in the center of the rock, causing it lose of control and power.  sort of like squeezing a water melon seed between your fingers.

I've been saying synching wrong the whole time ??  Grin CINCHING  is what I meant.

I've lurked on here for a fair while, I'm currently using a 550 paracord, split pouch sling with an 8" long cracker, 27" long from finger loop to center of pouch. I currently have some artificial sinew wrapped around the finger loop as it was giving me a blister on the my middle finger after slinging for a day. The two bullets are of some low grade blue clay I collected while digging a spring well, they exploded on impact, they were sun dried, not sure if they are dense enough to cause any damage if the need arose, I'll need to make up some more.

I found that sundried clay hits plenty hard. If you fire it, it loses a lot of mass due to moisture loss. Almost feels like a sponge comparatively.

I get blisters if I throw hard and a lot no matter what I put on the retention ring. Gotta build them calluses to get it to stop! If I haven't been slinging a lot lately, the blisters appear quite readily. I just keep moving the placement of the retention cord, I'm almost to my pinky, 5 blisters currently...

That sling looks nice. The choice of color makes it almost look like a natural cordage sling.

I’ve experimented with a lot of finger loop styles, and this is my favorite. It self-adjusts to different finger sizes, evenly distributes the tension across a large area of the finger, doesn’t rub or slide against the fingers, is really fast and simple to make from scrap leather, and is easy to replace if necessary.

...And for those who like to use double loops, you just add another one next to it.

I have received NOOCs sling. After inspecting it and some quick tests, I am confident in stating that this is a sling design that ranks high up there in my list of favorite convential sling designs. It feels like a more thorougly designed Aussie pouch

You see the leather they used around the round stones for original bolas? They used the scrotum sacks from bulls for that
