Thanks Mersa!  It surprised me how supple it can be with a little leather conditioner.  Definitely a great material.

@BrokeOkie - He’s talented and modest. Infuriating isn’t it?  Grin Wink

@All - Here’s two slings I made for some guys down at the station. I had no idea they would like them so much. It actually made me feel really good to have someone appreciate this and seem to really want to use it. Many ice, potatoes and eggs sacrificed themselves for our ammo needs yesterday. May they Rest In Peace.

...

The red trimmed one was made from old firefighting boots we had at the station. They were going to be thrown out anyways. The leather is still fantastic. Very high quality stuff.

I’m a little hesitant about the size of the tab but that’s what he wanted and it can easily be trimmed if it becomes an issue. I liked the idea of incorporating the logo into the sling though so hopefully it works.

...

The brown and grey one is a more traditional one. They both seem to work well.

@Morphy.  Truly it is.  Lol.

The last pics I saw of the multicolor roundbraids @Kick made were super cool!  I wouldn’t even attempt a round braid yet.  Haha!

Also, @Morphy...those slings are super cool you just posted!  Dig both of them, but especially that red and black one.  Alas, the poor unborn of the fowl.  What an eggsistence.

@All- Thanks everyone!

@Jauke- that jute seems to weave up nicely. Have you tried it yet? Looks great!

Here is my basic simple moose and jute, i am sending this to a customer in England.  I include in every order an all weather seat belt sling to keep up with the tradition that Aussie started, in his memory.

I understand its not the best looking, but i like to keep it simple, and functional.

Just an old sling I made for my youngest niece from dyneema.
Pretty sure I just made up the design as I went, it was a few years ago I made it, feels nice but it’s very short, too short for me.

it works as good as I expect from a natural fibre sling, and it has a nice connection to nature. It looks so stereotypically like a sling, something like it is what I would expect people in the past to have used and it feels good to use something similar.

I really like this design and twisted cords instead of braided cords. It adds a really great adjustable fingerloop (once you have this you don't want to go back), a very easy and even transition from cords to pouch on both sides, allowing even and equal length pouch strands for solid weave, something I always had a harder time with using a braid. It's also just a whole lot less frustrating to work with because you only got 2 bundles of cords you're twisting around each other instead of 3 or more bundles hanging loose that you're braiding. This is also a sling design I feel I could recreate and want to recreate with fibre harvested myself, given time.

One thing I really have not regretted is buying one of Luis' balearic slings. It's one of my most precious slings and gives me a good platform and a sling from somebody else to compare my own to. If my own slings sling as good or better I am satisfied.

I recently got one myself and they are so well made. Love it.

Well y’all,

I walked around exploring along the river where I might be able to sling for my first time without worrying about bystanders.  Found a great place!  I gotta say, I’m hooked already!  Hope to be going back again tomorrow afternoon.
