I really need to try one of these. I wonder if a woven pouch can be made Egyptian style with only one side cupped?

An asymmetric Egyptian sounds very interesting.
If you want a no-frills asymmetric leather pouch to build a sling around, just PM me your address. I have a spare bear claw “couch pouch” that’s just waiting for some cordage.

Thanks NOOC! I won't turn that down. Maybe I can throw something together for you in return.

@Morphy, if you can come up with something to trade that has about the same value as a piece of leather from a smelly, old, worn-out sofa, then that’s fine, but I’m perfectly happy to just  drop it in the mail and see what you do with the final result Smiley

Well done. I'm a bit late but might I ask which guide / tutorial you followed?

Playing around with braiding. Got the idea looking at a YouTube vid from Lindybeige (9 min mark) used 3 strands of pink and 3 strands of green using 12 feet strands of nylon mason’s cord, I got a 24 inch sling. The material is somewhat slippery and does not hold up to wear very well, but costs next to nothing and the braiding is quick.

Hi biglap, welcome!

I like your staff video.  Looks like a real nice throw!  I still have yet to make a staff sling.  It keeps getting pushed back because of other sling-related projects Wink

Your sling looks good too.  Although there appears to be a couple areas where the braid is a little loose.  As you get used to braiding, things should start to tighten up.  Have you done much throwing with it yet?  I'm curious how it's working for you.

Am Brief gibt es zwei unterschiedliche Strukturen. Das geht in dieser Form nur mit makrame. Perfekt für eine Sling.

I would die a happy man, if I could own one of your masterpieces, I would want to be buried with it. I dont think you ever made a bad or ugly sling.

Here are my slings, old to new from left to right. The all red one is the only paracord speciment to not show significant signs of damage. The two purple ones at the end are made of djembé cord, as is the third one pictured which I made today. They are very heavy, and after release they come around and wack me in the face very hard. I hope they will last longer than their predecessors.
