Donnershlag, I don't know anyone who could sew like that by hand, It looks like it was made in a factory!

Lol thanks  Grin

I made it in 2013, so the sling's almost 4 years old now. Aside from repairing the tassel 4 times and redoing the stitching twice, I'm kinda surprised the cotton's held up this well.  Huh

As for the stitching, it helps if you lay and nudge the thread around to be exactly how you want it before you cinch it nice and tight. (I also like to use some quilting/fabric glue to attach the pouch to the sling, so I'm not trying to juggle three things at once.)

My current slings-

1) 27'' Black Jute Balearic style, skinny in form. 4 strand flat braid with 2 per strand, doubles to 4x4 in belly and then tapers to 4x1. Pouch is split with a leather covering sewed on. I like this one quite a bit- it's quite light and manageable and the black jute is really nice stuff. Kinda thinner/denser than usual.

2) 32'' Jute Balearic style. 5x4 doubling to 5x8 in belly and tapering down to 5x2. Leather covered pouch. Larger and thicker than the black jute version. This is an earlier attempt at a kind of Balearic style sling. It's a bit too heavy/large for my particular tastes though is excellent for tennis balls.

3) 37'' Shaped leather pouch (6 hole style) with paracord arms. 37'' is a bit too long for me, probably should shorten at some point. I like this sling but I don't enjoy putting muddy rough rocks in it as my leather is a bit thin and dainty.

4) 32'' Seatbelt sling with paracord arms and nylon masons' line whipping. This is probably my highest performing sling, very lightweight and strong and that pouch is probably the most reliable I have. I'm planning to make a seatbelt style with leather in the future.

5) 29'' paracord woven pouch. Arms are polyester waxed thread, 4 strand flat braided, slight taper from 3-2 threads per braid. I didn't think this pouch would work well but it's surprisingly safe (at least on rougher rocks). Quite manageable and fast/easy to throw with.

6) 29'' paracord woven pouch- similar to the above although it's a bit bulkier overall. Cords are round braided nylon blinds cord taper from 6-4, also there is a stepped core in the retention cord to give extra taper. Not tested this one yet, hopefully the pouch is as good as the last one and it's not too heavyweight.

7) 30'' semi-split paracord woven pouch. Again made from nylon 2.5mm blinds cord, retention cord is 3 strand braided with 2 threads per strand and release is 6-4 tapered flat braid. My newest sling and not yet tested- I'm hoping this brings the best of split and solid pouch together for super reliability. Weight feels pretty good too.

8) 30'' Rockman style. Paracord weave and nylon masons' line cords 3 strand braided. This is my go to workhorse for large, rough ammunition. Though it handles small stuff surprisingly well too. It's a bit stretchy though which I feel bleeds power and that 'snap' feel.

Hey y'all. This is my current favorite sling. Materials used were paracord and some small paracord like cord

I'm usually not a fan of neon colors, but for some reason that really works well with the grey to me.

My new sling similar to my other here, but it is much longer, about 32 inches, and the stitching is much better, even though the knot pulled through or untied in two places making me have to glue it to the pouch with fabric glue since there wasn't enough thread for me to make a knot (and lead sinker ammunition, Greek glande dated 300 BC (recent birthday gift)

Close up of glande, for anyone who is interested. It seems to the only part of the inscription left says NIZ, anyone have any idea what the whole think could have been/meant? I'd really like to know.

This is 1 of 3 balearic style slings  I just made. Sisal, leather pouch, leather finger loop. Tapered release cord, sewn wit real sinew. I definitely won't be making anymore of these.  Unless for family  or friends.
