... By the way, what happens to all of your slings you make?

All slings I make are tested, the best ones go into the "EDC rotation", others I keep and sometimes use them. Slings that did not perform well sometimes are modified / re-braided / recycled / "re-pouched". Some found their way into a box I keep in the cellar. The worst ones I threw away (especially the slings I made at the beginning of my sling making). A few slings I traded. But after I got more experience in sling making and after having found my perfect sling size (=length) most of them are repeatedly in use.

At the moment I started making a slings of the world series where I try to use more or less authentic materials and braiding styles, i.e. sisal and flat braid for a tematlatl (in lack of the authentic agave plant used by ancient aztecs), wool for peruvian and middle eastern slings, again sisal for the planned balearic sling. For the Tut and etruscan slings I will probably use jute, cause I don´t have linen and do not know what cord was used by etruscans. The same for the planned York-sling reproduction.

From the mentioned world slings the tematlatl is finished and tested, the middle eastern sling is in progress. Oh, and the loom for the Tut has already the warps attached.

Some pictures of my slings of the world before I´ll be offline for easter.

Central America: Tematlatl,
Egypt: Tut (the cupped kind, not like the Lahun sling),
Britain and probably parts of continental Europe: York-style sling
and -not world historic, but famous on this
forum- the "Australian" seat belt sling.

Etruscan sling made with a stiff natural cord, of which I think is jute treated with some kind of harder than usual glue.

Balearic sling made from sisal, 7-strand-braid.

Middle eastern shepherd sling, made like in my Tutorial #3.
Twisted wool cords, no finger loop. The cords are very stretchy, so I use helicopter style for throwing, cause the cords stretch to their max length and then the sling works great.

Peruvian huaraca with pattern. The pouch is woven, only the white lines are sewn on. The only of my world slings I
haven´t tried yet, cause I finished it yesterday evening.

...
Between 1800 and 1850, after a poem from Jean de la Fontaine
Looks like the sling is a single solid strip with a wider pouch

...
Around 1603, by Guido RENI, a David and Goliath's head.
Diamond shaped netted pouch and really fat release cord Oo

---
English translation:
Hubert, this is a very nice sling! I always see fistbraided things and my next thought is always to estimate the working hours...

The pattern, is it a 24 strand braid? And every strand has 3 individual strings, which you split up in the middle?

der dicke teil,mit den rauten,ist mit 24 stränge a 2 fäden rund geflochten.der rest ist mit 16 strängen a 2 fäden rund geflochten(spiral zigzag).

Quick translation:

I start with the pouch. The border of the pouch and the finger loop are 16 strand flat braids. The inner part of the pouch are another 16 single threads. The thick part, with the rhombs, are 24 strands a 2 threads round braided. The remaining part are 16 strands a 2 threads round braided (spiral zigzag).
Oh yes, it took me 15 - 20 hours and wool worth 20 Euro. I admit, a bit decadent  Tongue
