Slyserpico, that looks like a moderator need to give some resizing aid and advice Smiley

Okay, I made myself a new [i]nice[/i ]sling.  24-strand Peruvian "Margarita" braid, Wool yarn, almost 28", knitted and sewn-in pouch.  The release cord has a Wall knot in the transition between the 24-strand braid and the 4-strand, which I needed for the tapering of the cord.  In the end is my usual Double Mathew Walker knot.  West Coast Whippings is reverse twisted black and green wool yarm.
It worked well with light and heavy stones during testing(, and nothing fell apart Cheesy).
I have been working on this sling on and off since Christmas, and am happy I could already finnish it now during Easter.

Ohlalala, That's very nice timman. How many inches of cord can you make in an hour with the margarita braid?

Here is my new sling with some of it`s older siblings, a 24-strander with Peruvian "Palma" braid, and a 16-strander.
(I feel I must have a right to brag at least a little, after all it is quite (a hell of) a job to make these darn things Cheesy)

PS Just a small advice for those who want to attempt these kind of braids.  Before you go for making a sling, make at least one key fob with the same braid first.

I don`t know, I`m not sure I want to know Wink

PS It`s simply so slow going, time loose all meaning for me when I braid with 24 strands.
Anyway, there I see no reason to make a sling that is just pretty, it`s main purpose should be to be functional.  I made this video this morning just to show the sling in use.  I play around with the figure8 style.  As slings goes I think it is wery good, the fancy braid is foremost very firm and strong.

Two new Chamorro slings. These are made with jute; still waiting for some good coconut fiber. The first one I made was too short so I used some leather to extend the sling. It's still a little short but it is great when throwing figure eight and the leather makes that whip cracking sound. The second is longer and came out with cleaner lines and throws well. I started off with 15 individual strands, five cords for the pocket with three strands for each of the five cords in the pouch. From there it was a matter of braiding 15 cords together, thinning strands out along the way to end with five single cords giving the sling strings a very even taper.

Dilyan, they are not. I used jute cord from the local hobby store. The spool I used for these slings was not very good in that the cord was not consistent in diameter and had splinters, what looked like bits of plant root and seeds of some kind. Despite all that they came out okay. Maybe the poor twist on the cords gave the finished product a look as if it was made from loose fiber. I don't wax or treat the cords or sling until after it is completed. When I was done all I did was burn off the extra fuzz with a candle then waxed then buffed the cords with a cloth. I just got back from throwing with the sling and didn't have anything come loose and the sling, while long because I made it for someone taller than I throws great.

How do you join the five strands in the pouch and still keep it flat?  Whenever I tried, it always ended up lumpy.
