Nice and practical slings, little Smiley.  I`m not convinced the mason line wear out so fast you need leather protection, though Cheesy

_kava_, now that`s a nice one, too Wink.  Nice braiding, it is quite a bit of work, isn`t it?
And some nice creativity going on, especially in the pouch.
What`s up with the finger loop, is it a sliding construction, or just decoration?

Mason line is very slippery, so I bet the leather makes the pouch more "grippy." I like them little!

How many colors did you use in that sling, _kava_? And how did you learn to make the pouch that way?

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

the braiding took forever, though I didn't mind - I braided on the train to and from work each day.

The finger loop doesn't slide, its just decorative

black, white, red, and some light brown colour for the fill, so 4 all up.

I taught myself Maori weaving, more commonly known as "twining"
- here is a link to a free manual on the subject:
www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/monographs/msm_tnko.pdf

this style of weaving is not a quick process...

Neither is knitting for me. The sling I sent to kid was already halfway done by the time we decided to start the S.I.T.H. and I still didn't finish knitting it until just before Christmas.

Maori weaving, well a quick glanse at the manual left me absolutely confused, I`ll have to take one more look, later... Smiley

Lately I have realized I had no long, slim, braided sling that including other ammo also can hold golf balls, whith distance as it`s main purpose.  Fixed it rather fast, made an elongated Apache sling, 39" 3-strand braid with 6 strands tapered slightly to a 4-strand round braid.
A couple of test shots have at least proven it works Wink

One more to show the back of the pouch.  I`m rather happy with my stitching, now, it looks okay and feels solid Wink

Hello kava,

that is a very well braided sling. I know the kumihimo pattern and I sometimes also use it.

Hi little,

ever tried to sew  in the middle of the leather? It works very well.
