Yes, pedagogically spoken even a Barbie sling is justified if the aim is to get children into slinging.  Wink

Timann, that's very beautiful Apache work. Makes me wish to make one too (not in pink, this time  Wink)

This is my 3rd sling. It's made from 8 strands of cotton butcher's twine in a 4 strand braid. Since this picture was taken, I put braided knots braided from forest green flat parachute cord at the end of the finger loop and the tassle, and wrapped a protective layer around the base of the release cord near the pouch. Each line is 18 inches long. The pouch is #201, made by Aussiesling. Can't praise Aussie's work enough. I love it.

Good idea to braid the "attach zones" of the pouch. Never thought about it.

And, yes, Aussie pouches are just an ingenious invention.

Camo-sling, I must say that the Apache sling works wery wellwith stones, like it was made for them(wich it is Wink).
The golf-and tennis ball is like fast-food for a sling like that, and is mostly in the picture for scale, stones is the real food for an Apache sling.

Fundibularius, bet you're daughter loves that sling!

Donnerschlag, Give it a try. You'll find it's not too hard to do - just addicting!

Thanks timann! I like your Apache slings too. Don't forget to feed them daily.

Thanks Camo-sling. There's always room for improvement!

That's a nice looking sling Kjev. Do you have a recent photo?

I made yet another Apache sling, this one with a 3-strand braid.  Same leather jacket for pouch.  In the picture is also the Apacce sling I use most these days.  It has protctive "ears" on each side if the pouch, wich I omitted on my lates slings.
The small white, pink and gray stone has a special purpose.  It is wery heavy for its size, and I put it in the pouch as a weight when I make slings, to measure if the lenght is suitable.

Well, yes, making one of those Apache slings is done fast and easy, and I think the result is rather good.
(With the 3-strand braid, its a walk in the park Cheesy)
But then, I got a lot of experience, now Wink  In the beginning the leather part was a little tricky, but not any longer.

My release knot is a Mathew Walker Knot, and the slings is finnished off with a Wall Knot, wich is smply a halfway finnished Mathew Walker Knot.

Camo-sling, wow! That sling really catches your attention. Nice job. Is that flat or round braid?
