First Sling poll
Dec 2nd, 2006 at 6:00pm

I was wondering if slingers followed any sort of regular path in their sling construction...When you think of sling construction methods I have left out please let me know and I will update the poll.
Thank You.

Now that I could vote for other I did.
You can read all about my first slings and see them in the post I made then:

I voted "Other."  The first sling I made was two pieces of paracord tied together to make a split pouch.  I used it for tennis balls.  The first good sling I made was a square of leather ~2" by 5" (about 5 by 12.5 cm).

The hand Sling Pictured in my Cold and Stormy post is my first sling. I now have two others.  One is a actual Peruvian Sling that I used a couple of time and then hung it on the wall. The next hand sling was made with a much larger scale pouch and nylon rope to where I could throw larger stones. I based it off of the pics of the Palestinian slingers.
Thinking about making a braided sling for a friends Christmas Present.
Would love to get my hands on one of the Tibetian slings that shows up on E-bay from time to time

I added 'one sting sling' as a lot of you were voting for it, but I had not listed it. In reality i did not know what one was before Willeke was kind enough to point me at a bunch of her first slings.
I am finding out more about different sling types from this than from mindlessly poking around on the site.
Thanks everyone.

I voted for a woven sling.  Come to think of it the first thing that I used to "sling" with was an old sock  Huh I don't think that counts.

Haha! I did the exact same thing a long time ago.  I decided it didn't count, because I never got it to work well (I only tried like 3 times to use it).

I changed the poll, I put the other back to where it used to be, because the results showed that I voted the new option on that same place.

So better not change a poll once voting has started.

Oh Yeah I forgot.. I have another sling as well. I made a Sling using Mr. Lunds directions in the articles section of the website.  I can definately say I do not like the cradle type of slings.

Personally I think it is funner if you don't quite know what you are voting for from day to day...I may just make a floating poll and change it every day...
For now I have left the poll the way Willeke put it back to...

Man... a pollster's dream. I vote for no messing with the polls once they are started as well - changing them removes any validity that they might have had and makes the exercise a waste of time for those who responded. Funny sometimes to be sure, but we can funny in lots of other ways.

My fisrt sling used flat leather ribbons for cords and a leather puch for a pocket. I'm still hoping that I'll find the second one I made (the same style) someday. I think it is in one of these boxes... If I do I'll be sure to post it. A piece of history...
