As if you can cut the air with it, and the air will bleed.
Great work!

This was a cast head, not forged.  I took roughly one day to file all of the casting marks away (it took a ton of filing:P), and another day to inlet the 11 pieces of silver , pour the pewter mouth piece and finish it.    I made around $200 on the labor.

Now for those that see the tiny pits in the steel, I put them there, and wore down  the wood a  bit to where you can feel  the grain to give it that slightly aged look and feel.

so was it a commission, or just something you decided to make - nice work either way.

Hang on if it's a pipe then the handle is hollow right ?

What did you bore it out with ?

so for the metal inserts, how did you fit those ?
Did you cut the shapes from the wood and pour silver in (on curved wood got to be tricky) or cut shapes to fit already made silver pieces and fit them in somehow.
And how did you cut the shapes in the handle ?

I suppose the handle would have been bored out while it was on the lathe. Most lathes have bore holes running through both the tail stock and headstock for use with deep boring kits- primarily for making lamps. But would certainly work for pipes as well.

But I'm fascinated to know how you fitted the silver inlay.
