Hey, just made some javelin/spear heads from sheet steel (the cheap kind from computers, VCRs, etc.) They were way too bendy when I just cut them out to shape with tin snips, so I used a cold chisel and put a ridge through them, and not them don't bend. Inspired by the article here:
http://www.armourarchive.org/essays/armour_fluting/I used a propane torch to heat the tip and part of the edge of the spearhead to orange heat, and then dipped it in water to harden it. That's why there's this darker color to the tip.
When I find a suitable staff I'll try to bend the end of the spearhead around it and pin it in place. I guess I should've used a rawhide mallet instead of a pean hammer, but I like the weathered look
