Read the subject heading. It's on the casting styles page, it needs to be done.

I know Thomas said  Knollslinger was the man to speak to so if he's still on the forum, I'd appreciate the write up if you have time. If not anyone is welcome to have a go.

After a few days and tens of hours of throwing with this style.  I gotta say that it rocks!  No wonder Knollslinger is so good.  It is much more accurate than I expected and the power is right up there with figure 8 if not more.

I fell on my face the first couple of tries and needed to find a new sling spot to do this cause it requires a bit of flat ground but it is well worth the effort.  I'll make a video of this and write a few words on the wiki soon!

I looked up Knollslinger's old posts, trying to find a description of his style.  I eventually found it
here
(it was a post that he wrote as a guest, before he registered).  I do not think I could do what he does.  Not without a video to study.  And probably not without falling on my face quite a few times.

Knollslinger and Ben/Almulek/ArizonaSlinger(?) got together once, and shot some digital video footage, but apparently it was lost when Ben's computer crashed.

Tint, I am very much looking forward to seeing your reproduction of Knollslinger's style!

I don't know....I've used a full body spin technique for quite some time and have tried long slings.  His having never used a sling shorter than he is tall is peculiar to me.  I cannot fathom only using such long slings, especially to be able to split a rabbit down the middle!  The full spin style is great in order to sling with power, but with such a long sling, one would have to be quite athletic in order to produce the results he reports.

Yeah, spliting a rabit in halves is hard to believe but I wouldn't count it out.  There are lots of deeds done by athletes that were considered impossible:

Figure skaters thought a triple axle jump was impossible at the begining of their competition and now there are guys who can do four twists in a jump!  Andy Rodick recently served a tennis ball that didn't bounce, it was hit so hard that it "sunk" into the clay and no one knew the rules for that because it was considered impossible!  The Olympics are making new rules for Javelin throws because the athletes are throwing so far that the stadiums are not big enough to hold the event savely!

We slingers as sportmen are at a very early stage of development in our sport at this point in time. Knollslinger mentioned that his family have been using the long sling for generations using the same style exclusively and that he praticed daily for hours growing up, that is much MUCH more than most of us can say on this forum.  May be, just may be, he is so far ahead of us at what we do.

I didn't see him kill the rabit and sure I have doubt about it too but I must confess that part of me hope everything he said was true.  It gives me a real high standard to aim for!  Who knows, may be a few decades from now slingers would laugh at our discussion and say "Rabit?  Hack, we can split an elephant in two!" Tint,

Looking forward to the video's.

I am now going to ask anyone out there who would like to make a contribution to the wiki in the from art their art skills. I need someone to do the frame by frame drawings just like John did (And John if your interested please let me know.) for each of Tint's video's.

If not suggestions or badgering of people who would be good to do it would be nice. (Please only badger don't hound.)

Done and done,

Tint,

That means we have a start.

Everyone else,

Any other takers? Remember, don't expect someone else to do it. I'd do them myself but you'd have to wait untill I learnt how to draw.

Siguy,

Thanks again, and I suppose it'll give you something to do while you heal.
