2 of my three slings are 99 cm from centre to tip and one of them, my shortest, is 74 cm. the first two are my distance slings and the smallest is my accuracy oriented sling. Overwhelmingly, I tend to go with either a helicopter throw angled slightly or an underhand release for distance.

I a read somwhere that the Balaeric slingers that worked for the romans had 4 slings the same three you were talking about Vincente and one that had a wire instead of a pouch. They had special ammo for the wire one, a lead bullet shaped in a oval little bit pointed at the ends with a notch all the way around the center. They would put the notch on the wire and, use these for picking off certain people like a sniper. I will try to find it again and get measurements and weights.

I usually sling with 80 cm long sling, but sometimes i have to sling with shorter ones, if i have lack of materials and i absolutely want to go slinging.

and my standard sling is about 61 cm.
longrange is about 1 meter.
