stiff braids

I am half way through making an Andean sling with a core and an 8 strand round braid. The braid on the retention cord makes the cord stiff. Will it get less stiff with use. I think what i did was braided to tight. This is my first Andean sling. I am weaving the first side of the pouch today.

It will probably get softer with time, and usually pretty quickly as well. On the other hand, many of us find that stiffer cords behave well for slinging, giving better accuracy - so either way you should be good.
