allright i was makeing my bowstring out of sinew, its strong and holds up well. only thing is i have to use alot of the stuff and thats not good...

I started growing some flax to make bowstring i used the page on primitve ways as a guide. The only thing is I have 2 bows needing strung right now, and who knows when the flax will be big enough..

Is there another plant i could use? what does flax in the woods look like? where could i find it, where should i look for it?

So the easiest option is a shop somewhere. There are other natural fibres but I am not English and would not be able to find htem here even less there. Willeke

South ( TX, NM ) Yucca is a good fiber source. I use hemp in sling cords but don't know if the raw fiber is available to work up into a bow string.

Sinew is good, but supply is obviously a concern. I suggest you get to 3 rivers archery and order a couple spools of Dacron. The flax you got should be pretty close to ready in two months or a bit more. I'm growing flax also.
