First Attempt
Apr 17th, 2006 at 5:02pm

Today was my first try with a sling (in my life)
Well it wasnt a succes.
i was trying with some bouncingballs but i think they are not heavy enough so they came only at a max of
60 Meters.
gone try it soon with some golfballs and a start building a longer slinger.
(does the size of a sling realy matters allot for distance?)
Gone buy i think a meter of 60 on topes tomorow Grin
When i got the time i will post a picture from my first sling.
I am gone now celabrate that my mother gave me life 21 years ago so i talk to you later people.

How long is you sling? You just have to experiment with different lengths of the sling, because it's not the same for everybody, but around 80 cm (folded) is what I like the best.

If the ammo is too light, it won't have anything to make it keep the speed, so it'll brake. Bouncing balls are too light, I would say, but golf balls are good. Some even think golf balls are too light. I like them though. Be careful, golf balls wil bounce back at you!

Good luck tomorrow! And happy birthday! Roll Eyes

My prefered length is from the ground to half way up my torso (roughly 120 cm, but that's a very rough guess). Of course, I use that for figure-8 and underhand, and it's about the longest length that I can handle, but once I got used to it it makes chucking tennis balls a breeze... (or "zephyr" for anyone who has to study for the SAT Tongue)

Guys! How difficult is the Slinging section of the SAT?

Aixu, my first sling didn't work very well either. I used the yellow polypropelene for the cords and heavy, stiff leather for the pouch. This sling was very stiff ( both cords and pouch ) and I found that it would work best only with heavier stones.
Try using more flexible string for the cords and a more flexible material for the pouch, also. For golf balls, a cloth or thin suede leather pouch and bootlace cords might work, I bought the materials but I haven't actually tried this ( yet. )
See the members picture gallery for ideas.                    .......Dan
