You can splice almost any cord. But you will need to have the splicing instructions for the kind of rope, or you need to know how to splice and work on instinct.
I have done a splice in round braided nylon cord, 16 strand, splicing needed be done with a needle.
But four strand round braids and flat braids are not that hard.
