Burning Question

The day's burning question...just how well *does* hash sling?

What is hash? Dictionary.com says it's:

A dish of chopped meat, potatoes, and sometimes vegetables, usually browned.

is this what you're talking about?

Maybe he is talking about hashish, which, I believe, is informally called hash.

Tsk...civilians...Yes, the above is indeed the hash of which I speak.  Mess hall food...if you can call it food.  I grew up in the US Army, and there's a phrase, "slinging the hash"...which is what happens in a chow line.

So, naturally, I wondered...just how well does hash sling?

He means to sling hash. As a former cook, I used to do this all the time.
Of course, if someone critisizes your cooking, well, keeping the sling handy is good. The hash seperates in flight and hits like birdshot. Grin

Basically hamburger, onions, and potatos, fried together with eggs and ketchup.
  Like I said, birdshot.

I'd probably eat it all before I got to sling any. Sounds delicious!
