The clip may be a bit much for some, and although it does add a bit of convenience....is unnecessary, to be sure. SV thought I was 'gilding the lily' by merely adding a grip to the sling......
If and when he sees this thing, He'll think I'm 'tickling the tulip' for certain!
The clip feels fine to me, although certainly not as natural as the grip alone. If I can get them made at a decent price in bulk, I will offer them. Buyers would be able to state when ordering, for which hand they'll be using it.
Working Ebony and Cocobolo is an experience! Ebony is so hard, I sometimes see sparks coming off the bandsaw blade. I daresay, I believe Ironwood is the only harder wood to be found, and if it's any harder than Ebony, I don't want to play with it. Even a small, thin sliver of Ebony 1/2" wide, 1" long by say, 1/16" thick or less is too strong to snap in two with your fingers. Incredible stuff. It works more like stone than wood and can leave the most stubborn and painful of slivers, especially under a nail.
Regarding the clip, it may not see the light of day.....but the sling grip, I hope, is here to stay.
