Ain't That a Kick In the Head...

Well, not really a kick, but I've noticed that when I sling, I get smacked in the face a lot with the end knot.
I do an over handed throw with no wind-up and after the rock shoots out the sling goes under my left armpit, loops over my head and swings down my forehead smacking my face. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how did you fix it?

That's never happened to me. Maybe your knot is to heavy?

Wow. That's never happened to me. Seems like it would hit the ground first.
How long is your sling total?

I can just imagine your expression the first time that happened
. It seems like a silly problem, though I can imagine it being rather annoying. Have you tried leaning one way to aviod or catch the sling? Usually, the sling wraps around my left arm and I just swing it free. Perhaps you could try moving your left arm to try to catch the string around it.

maybe wrapping around too much ?
seems like altering the final moment of your motion in almost any direction would fix the problem. Ex. Leave your arm extended, move it more to one side or the othe, snap your wrist. Something like that would probably fix it.

Yeah, you probably have yourself in a habbit that causes your problem. When i do overhand (although i usually go to the side) I tend to keep my arm out a little further, so it just spins around when i release... But maybe your string length is affecting it. I'd have to see you do it
to understand exactly what's wrong.

Ask not what you can do for your sling... But what your sling can do to an armored knight on horseback at over 50 yards!

Dang, right now I'm letting my friend borrow my sling. It's length is about two or three feet long total, I can't tell for sure until I have it again.
As for the altering physical movement to avoid it I'll have to try it when I get it back.

Maybe you should try a different method. Even if you prefer overhand, you'll at least have a way to make sure you don't hit yourself in the head every time

Okay, I tried slowing down my arm but only cut down on my strength. Then I tried a different style but now my accuracy (if it ever existed) is lower. Any other ideas?

Two or three feet TOTAL? As in, end to end? As in, when it's folded, it's only about 1 1/2' long?
I can easily see how that would snap you in the face. Try a sling that's as long (folded) as your arm is.
