O, and slingwolf. I considered the same thing, but decided that in the end, its just a lot easier to make different slings.

oooooooooooh... I see. I didn't think about having slack on one end. You'd have to retie the release knot or just not use one. I guess there are many ways to make an adjustable length sling.

Slingwolf, the only problem with your idea is that you'd have to carry around a bunch of unnecessary parts (the one's you'll switch to make longer/shorter). I'd much rather have a 1 piece sling.

CanDo, what did you use to make that sketch. It looks like paint, except you faded out the extra on the long sling and that wouldn't be easy to do with paint...

Ask not what you can do for your sling... But what your sling can do to an armored knight on horseback at over 50 yards! Shocked

(Also in the thread home made.)

All knots in this sling are Turks Head Knots around the cords and slide, but are so tight that it is hard to slide them.
I do not expect this sling to be realy working well, but you never know.

looks like the Turks head knots must have taken the longest time. I looked up how to make one and it is insanely complicated.

Sinse the rest of the sling did take all the time to clip the string, yes they did take most of the time.

But I make these knots real often, so not that long, I did not count measure the time.

Here is a way to tie them http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/turkshead_table.html
http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/3x4_table.html

Pulling the knot tight is taking the most time.

Use factory beads instead then,  Tongue

But do not underrate yourself, I have had children 8 years old making the knot from these pages

Funny you should ask. I used photoshop (why didnt Paint occur to me?! It would have saved five minutes of startup time). I was trying to just erase it normally, but the brush shape was set to some funky, feathered setting and I was too lazy to change it... Photoshop's expensive so if you don't want to pay or are too morally upstanding to steal it (of course I didn't steal it Grin), check out Gimp here: http://www.gimp.org/ ; Linux is coming! Linux is coming!

Of course I didn't steal it either... Roll Eyes I'm keeping a copy... for a friend...  Tongue

I just realized that I can extend the finger loop far enough to make it a wrist loop. YAY! Talk about fully adjustable Wink

awesome. do you find that it clamps down tightly around your skin? I stick to bowlines and figure eight knots as I happen to like blood flowing through my fingers. Does using a noose alieviate that problem? (as opposed to a no-name slipknot)

No. The noose stays the size I leave it. Unlike the regular slip knot (that I use for yoyos) it doesn't clamp at all. All the knots I used are knots that lock under tension, but slide fairly easily for adjusting. The knots I used were:

Loop --> Noose
Sling --> Rolling Hitch
Pouch --> Prusik
