Where to buy a sling
Mar 1st, 2006 at 10:06pm

I have been searching the internet for a braided sling to buy.  Everytime I get results for a rifle sling.  Can someone give me some good sites.

Check some of the outdoor survival sites. Alot of them offer slings of various quality and design. Wink

If you donate to the site you get a sling hand made by one of the members.

you could also try checking out the "trading forum" subject in the "administrative and other topics" section.  many people are willing to send you  a quality sling for little more than some scrap leather or railroad spikes, or other stuff.(just ask what they want and state what you have)

how exactly does the donation/sling trade work? would anyone else feel kind of funny, donating to this site to get a sling?

I've been wondering about that too. Also, is a "hand-made" sling a braided one or what? Has anyone actually donated to the site and gotten a sling yet?

LOL,
thank goodness someone brought up that issue. I have been wondering about the whole donation thing. I mean I don't mind donating especially if I get a sling, but I figured I wouldn't fit in if I asked for a made sling. It actually bothered me alot, because some of the slings people make here look really nice  and frankly I want one!  Embarrassed

IIRC the sling that you get for donation is leather and paracord. It is written somewhere I think.

shhh! the site needs donations, and to keep up the misconception that slings are difficult to make for the people not willing to scratch beneath the surface.

I donated to the site and did not get a sling. Thats ok though I didnt donate to get a sling, just to donate. The best sling is one you make yourself. If you make it a crapping one you know the next one is only going to better. If you build it its much more fun

making slings yourself also allows you to tune the sling to your specific needs after some experiance.  you will know the perfect leangth, pouch size, etc.  also, it is very rewarding to use something that you have made yourself.  that way you can't blame bad workmanship on others.
