I have one here that will do 3" and 1" round balls. One is for the wall gun and the other is for the cannon.

Well, the .8" one should be just about right for distance attempts... The golfball sized one is going to weigh more than a pound! Try not to punch holes in the neighbour's car.

WOW, that sounds pretty great, Are these smooth skinned or do they have dimples? Can you add dimples?

Lead is soft enough to make the dimples if you want them. Just be carefull to avoid lead poisening.

Thats what happens to some game animals here
.
The last time I bought lead I got it for 10 cents a pound at a salvage yard, so for a a .80 ball weighs just under a 1/4 pound would cost around 2 cents a ball (material cost) for me . But now comes in the cost of the mold and possibly the labor.
Willeke is right, need to cast in a well vented area (outside)

How do you contract lead poisoning? I know it can be inhaled, but how long before you get sick and how else can you get it?

Watch out when you are handling the lead as well to avoid ingesting it. Wash hands before eating etc. Lead poisoning is relatively easy to avoid if you take the proper precautions, but it really isn't good for you when you don't so it is worth educating yourself.
Here is a great thread on
casting lead glandes

the lead sling gland i had was bigger then a golf ball, but lighter then 10 pounds, i could only throw it about 60 feet. You must be massive to throw a ten pound stone

no, but i had to spin my body fully around in order to get it working properly. plus it didn't go very far. only about 30 ft. i got it to go maybe 20 ft using the overhead throw. i had to lift the laoded sling up off the ground with my left hand, and kindof throw it into a spin around my head. btw, i am only 5'4" and 120 to 130 pounds. not so big.
