I'm excited . I have an old barrett crossbow that needa a new "bow". I'd like to make a new one of lighter poundage . I look forward to seeing more and how you made the "bow" Smiley

the trigger Smiley

ok the round part at the bottom pivots you pull up on the whole thing. a nail pushes the string out of the groove.

Nice job on that one. I havent built a crossbow yet that worked decent (too busy making bows) but I suppose I would probably be able to make a crossbow now.. Maybe I should hop to and get one done. Good trigger idea, and your bowstring looks excellent. Black locust is very good bow wood, just has to be a bit wider because it frets. Can you do a full draw pic so I can admire the tiller? I think I kind of like the mona lisa.

I truly only got one shot. I made the bare bones of the bolt, did not even put fletching on the thing (man its hard to find feathers) just loaded up a pointy stick and aimed at this rabbit across the street. I missed him, hit the road and the bolt broke Sad

Ill make a better bolt soon maybe tomorrow

Nice crossbow! How do you connect the bow to the stock? That's my trouble.

mine too Undecided

What i am trying now, is getting some leather cord soaked overnight in water, then wrapping that around the cross bow. I hope that when the leather drys it will shrink and hold it together.

One problem i have is the string. when i mount the bow, the string wants the whole thing to tilt, because the bow is mounted much lower then where the string rests.

Try rawhide  instead of leather, you can get it from doggie chews. Grin  Soak it and you will beable to pull it apart, when it dries it will shrink.

allright. I was thinking of backing the bow with that, but i did not know what that would do, so ill try attaching it to the stock with it.
