Trousers need less material, and in the time when weaving was done by hand that saved more time than the extra work in making.

Fashion?
There were a lot of tribes, and some of them may always have used kilts while others used trousers, but it was fashion that made all upperclass scotts use the combination of a practical kilt and a thightly restricting and fancy black velvet jacket with a white shirt.
Like wearing the upper half of a smoking with the lower part of a jogging suit, (in a way then,) but with a lot of places for weapons to be worn openly or concealed.

Finn MacComhail. The Fairhaired Son of Cool! I like the sound of Flint MacComhail.

I think trousers were an invention of necessity. Who wants to ride a horse into battle in a kilt, really? Well, thats why the Scythians wore trousers.

It's too bad no one knows the word for sling in Gaelic. However, being clever people, I'm sure we can find out, eh??

I'll ask at another forum for sling in Gaelic  Roll Eyes
I could use that as his name.

I've been thinking about different names, I guess Hondero doesn't work now when he's a Scot. If the word for "sling" in gaelic is cool, I might use that some way.
I'll ask at the forum.

Got it. The Gaelic phrase for sling is Crann Tabhaill         ( Crawn Tavall). it refers to any type of sling, from the old war slings, to the modern industrial ones.
   What does everyone think?
Crann Tabhaill, Lord of the Slings!!

Gaelic has a nice gruff sound to it too, perfect for a primitive man!

Some people at the other forum said it was crann-tabhaill too, and they explained it:
tabhal = sling (pronounced - taval)
crann-tabhuill = sling's leather shaft

They also said that Lowland Scotland they called a sling a 'Gutty'.

Maybe less 1930's vintage comic idea and a little less revealing. He practically has no shirt, and its kind of weird that he has no pecs. How can you throw a sling without pectorals?? He should at least have a vest-type thing.

What is pecs? (Don't use such difficult words! Grin)

I've been thinking of making him a shirt or something, but I haven't found out how yet. Actually I like him pretty good just with his kilt and the hat. He looks more wild-like without shirt, and how should his shirt/vest look like?

Pectoral (chest) muscles.

Give him an awesome pirate shirt or something, or maybe a jerkin of some description.
