no-knot-sling

Hai everyone

Now I don't know if this is new, but I like it.
I learned from my wife's father a way to "braid" rope into itself or into an other.
It took me about one second to think this would make a nice sling.
So here it is a sling made of two peaces of rope and no knots.

here's two more slings.
The blue one is my favorite. folded about 80 cm. I enforced the pocket with thin leather, because of the raw-pointy-asphalt- rocks in my neighbourhood.
The rocks on the photo are not some of them of course.
the white sling with picture looks nice but works not so nice...

Ok one more to finish this post.
My adjustable sling. Made after reading an interesting post about it.
Works really well. Big fun to throw big rocks up to one kilograms!

Awesome! Shocked
Have you just used a regular hemp rope and eh done some stuff with it at the first sling? Anyway it looks really cool!
How have you made that cave painting slinger at that last sling in the middle picture?
God idea using two fingerloops! Grin
Great slings! Roll Eyes

Nice piece of splicing, I wonder why I never thought of doing that  ???
Good touch, that double loop for your ringfinger and pinky. Gives you a wide grip without being too hard for either of those relatively week fingers.

I like all of your collection. Good find to use that one white string in the blue braid and did you use a leather belt for the adjustable one?
(So you found photobucket, and it works for you  Wink)

Very nice slings. I particularly like the braided finger loops and the cave painting figure. I might have to get a tatoo of that. Thanks

Thanks for your comments.

>>How have you made that cave painting slinger at that last sling in the middle picture?<<

-Yes I did, with needle and thread.

>>did you use a leather belt for the adjustable one?<<

-No, the leather used is from old shoes of mine.
(There's no spare shoes in my house!)
If you find old shoes with the heel-side out of one peace of leather it sometimes cups nicely by it self.
Although this peace is a bit too thin to do that, the other shoe had slightly thicker leather and cupped better. This I used in another sling not pictured here.

hi guys. I' m a new member, recently registered. I'm 18 years old. This summer i fell in love with this slinging stuff, particularly because of the stories my father told me about when he was younger and he had used the sling. I have learned to make them very well, and i use them too. I'm curious though -- if any of you care to just tell me, what are your ranges? How fast do you shoot them? How heavy are your projectiles?

Can we post videos on these boards?

Hello Natural,
Welcome, nice to have a member who slings in a family tradition.

Yes, you can posts videos here, the best way is to send them to Chris, see the button 'How to post images and other files' in the heading of this page. But that will take a little while. If you have the video on internet somewhere you can post a link here. Often people use Putfile for that, I do not have a link for you, so you will have to look for that yourself.

For the other details, use the search function in the heading of the page. Play with different searching words and remember the amount of days since the last post. 999 gives you even the oldest posts.

I like your slings . The Caveman using a sling is a nice touch .  8) At first I thought it was some sort of Chinese writing but the other replies brought it to"light" . Smiley

Very nice collection of slings you have there, I'm trying to build up a nice variety of slings as well for different types of rocks and areas.
Keep up the good work
