assyrian slingers
Jan 7th, 2006 at 2:27pm

Hai everyone

I like carving stone and I like assyrian-art. Did I mention I love slinging?
So I liked to try to copy base-relief-slingers, and I did.
Small they are allright.
They're going to be presented/placed  into a 50X50 cm, and about 15cm thick peace of wood.
The stone is brazillian soapstone. very easy to cut and scratch.

...

some details to and my hand to give an indication of their size.
...

How do you like 'm?

That is incredible Sander.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Please send these photos to Chris as well, if only for his own collection.

I have an untrained eye when it comes to this stuff, but I'd swear they were real.

Thanks for your great reactions.
i'm glad you like em.

>>What did you cut with?<<

with these below.
For straightening bigger parts I use the loose blade of a small metalsaw. Sometimes screwdrivers do good. To pollish I use smallgrain-waterproof-sandpaper.

...

>>Do you have anymore..? <<
Not yet, This was my first try to copy my old favorites.
there will probably be more.

>>a bas relief carving of an Assyrian dog <<
there's some I know of dogs that fight/hunt lions...
You mean this dog?

...

Selling?
Well, maybe. I could make some more, if someone really wanted it. It takes some time to make of course. And I don't know about sending stones overseas. Sending stones anywhere for that matter. But thats easy to find out.
I guess solutions will come where nessesary.
Prices, yet another difficult something.
Let me know, ideas, demands and we might find a good way to do.
