Another leather pouch design?

Hi everybody,

did someone ever try this pouch design?

I saw this pattern about 2 years ago on a web site about trebuchet, but can't remember this one. Just found pictures that i saved on my hard drive at that time.

It is like a Jurek's design variation.

Take a soft leather rectangle, cut and punch holes according this patern:

The size is about 15 cm X 5 cm (6" X 2")

When you attach the cords, it looks like this:

After testing, i really like this pouch because it is sturdy, as the cords go through 3 layers of leather, and cup well spherical ammo. It is perfect with tennis ball.

Here i use my adjustable knot, but sure it may work with any kind.

Worth a try.

Reply #1 - Dec 24^th, 2005 at 2:56pm Maybe I will try it for my next sling. The first sling I made, I made an oval shaped pound that had long tapered ends. I folded and sewed the ends over the knots on the string.

I think my next sling might be made just like this. And you say a 15X5 cm design is big enough for a tennis ball? Very nicely done!

How big are the holes for the cord and the relief for the bends? Are they the same size?

I thought I would try to make a positive contribution to this site by drawing up a couple of patterns for sling pockets with AutoCAD and posting the DWG or DXF file. Or I could covert them to other formats. Anyone have any preferences?

Also anyone want a drawing of a certain design as a cutting pattern, let me know or send me a rough sketch.

Taiki,
if you have people near you who have a leather coat, old bag or pair or boots that need replacing, beg for the old one.

Sometimes you can find leather chairs or alike that are put to the side of the road for the waist collection. You can skin those easily.

Or you can buy from a saddle maker, shoe repair man or craft shop.

People would say, "Ohh, what a shiny sling!" And I would be all like, "Yeah, it's Prada!" And they would be like, "Wow!"
