just a pic of my old stand by i have used for over a year
sling fifty or so almost every day this sling is made from a old  leather jump rope, boot laces and a chunk of leather it has been modified since this picture with bindinds for the pouch instead of clamps. This sling has killed many of a nutria. and is forty three inches long.
often cracks like a bull whip. Wich incidently got me a 2nd nutria one morning. When the first shot dispatched its brother. the crack caused the 2nd to pause long enough for a shot and a kill.

Lobohunter,
I just have to ask, and set my mind at ease.  In your picture, the way the pocket is curled suggests that the side showing, is the side the rock goes in.  But I think, after playing with my imitation of your design, that the pocket naturally turns "inside out" when you sling, and that the rock actually goes in the other side (the side I cannot see in this picture).
Am I right?

the flesh side of the leather does go in.
but the only draw back for me with this design is that the pocket flips on most hard shots. it is a instant move for me to flip it back over. but my sling has a perment curve lol

Thanks, Lobohunter!  Yes, mine does the same, on most shots (I think mine is thinner leather, so it flips inside-out easier).  But I know now that I did build it correctly.

Here's my sling, which I've been using a while. It's Jurek's type of pouch, and the release/finger loop leather piece is fastened as Jurek describes somewhere.
The cords is some cheap 90 cm shoe laces, they work pretty well.

The sling I have picture now has a wrist loop as do all my sling now. I love the versitality of a wrist loop. from wide to close grip in a heart beat all makes it easy to do rock chuckers backspin

Nice slings everyone, thanks for the inspiration!! Here is my favorite sling.

...

It is made of spliced rope, with corded pocket and a wooden peg for the release knot. Hope you like it.

Nice pouch Grin how well does it hold stones? it seems to me that they might slip out between the holes or get the wrong spin on them from leaving the pouch differently from a normal pouch (i.e. plain leather) Undecided
great pic

It holds rocks well. It is sort of like the netted pouch design in that respect, if you get very jagged rocks you sometimes get a bit of a snagging feeling when you release, but with beach pebbles its fine.

sweet... i'm going to make one. 8)
its an eye splice for the fingerloop, right? the pouch is reasonably self explanitory...but what is the release knot? i don't think i know that one. Undecided
