Different Slings
Jul 30th, 2005 at 7:01pm

I think it would be cool to see pics of all the different slings people use. It helps beginners get some inspiration and shows an artistic side to what non-practioners consider a 'barbaric" sport. Everyone submit some pics of their favorite sling or what they use.  Grin I will edit this later so that my pics are up here as well..

The lower knit one is my "standard" everyday sling. I like almost everything about this one.

...
The nicest of my net designs - end of the evolutionary trail.

...
The gold one is my ultra distance engineered ammo (golf balls, lead or smooth rocks) sling. I can't currently get the most out of the extra length - need some more practice. I really liked the blue one too, but he got misplaced Sad

I have new design in my head that I think will probably replace the knit one and should appeal to a larger cross section of the group here. Maybe monday (can't wait for monday - how often you hear that?) will be new sling day!

Gorgeous Matthias, I really like the green knitted ones.

I just finished a revised apache type sling, if I ever figure out how to post photos I'll post it.  Tongue

Ok here are my 3 favorite slings. Nothing fancy just simple cow and cord.
...

...

This ones my favorite, it has the cords sewed onto the bottom piece of leather, then a top piece of leather was glued on with contact cement with extra long pieces to cover the whippings on the sides of the pouch. The top piece is then sanded down so the sling pouch is as thin as possible The top piece is added to keep the sewing thread from getting scuffed and frayed from use. All in all a very durable sling with little that can wear out. The end of the release cord is reverse-twisted hemp cordage, attached to the nylon for easier gripping, as i dont like the release knots. Anyways enough yappin...heres my other two slings, a 30 incher and 36 incher regular apache style.

The sling I use most often.

Not often used but certainly worth showing. Fast to make and a joy to play with.

Man, you people posted alot when I was on vacation...

...
This the sling that has a pocket made by two prusik hitches. I couldn't find the topic for it so its going here.
The one on the left is the better of the two. I only made the one on the right because I lost the one on the left but now I found it so it  is just a backup.
