people in the south looked down there nose at me when i worked in labour the upside is they get genuinly scared if you look threateningly at them soft or what i lived in cambridge once we have three poundlands anyway do you ever come up north the estate where i work is grim people think im posh because i am articulate the further north you go the friendler the people are in the south they are alot more clicky

If you could cut off Hull, Liverpool, and Blackpool, the north would be pretty perfect. The south is... not great. It's rich, but unpleasant.

I have friends all over England, from the south, Kent, Isle of Wight and Cornwall, all the way up north to Cheshire and Yorkshire. And in all different classes, from dirt poor pensioners to pretty well of people.

I find that where a person lives and how much money he has has little to do with how nice and friendly he is. And how much money a person has has also little to do with where he lives.

It might have to do with your own attitude, if you go to a place expecting not to be liked you might get what you expect. I always go to a place expecting to find someone I can like, I often get what I expect.

Oh, there are plenty of Pound shops - just not selling marbles!

In fact, where Iwork its pound shops or nothing - a quick survey of the high street;

Everything's a pound!
Poundstretcher
Cash Traders (the new version of the Pawn Shop)
Cash Converters (same business)
7 charity shop
Cash for your Daughters
Crack u Like
Ugly Bob's Smack and Special Brew Cafe

Just kidding about the last two - but that's Northern Ex-Industrial towns for you. The only real employer in some parts round here is the Government, either Directly (unemployment benefit) or indirectly (ludicrous bureaucratic make-work programs).

But the people are friendlier, and always stop to chat - as they have bugger all else to do all day most of them.
