Don't forget, Biggles was in the Second World War as well, somehow.  And the Spanish Civil War.  And numerous other little adventures.  What a guy.
  Did you know that apparently Andorra never had a Second World War because the First never even ended for them - they never signed any peace treaties or anything, and so technically were at war from 1914 until 1945.  Not sure where I read that, but it is just one of those weird facts - or supposed facts.  Imagine being a German hiker in the Pyrenees in the 20s.
