Title: Hey there from southern California
Post by soulsynapse on Jun 19th, 2020 at 1:39am
Just getting into this! Had a really fun session last night, I have a lot of questions though

What is the most accurate throwing style?

What is typically the fastest?

Welcome from Finland! Well most accurate will be the one you practice most :D I've found for myself though that Greek style is very accurate even when I have long breaks from using it. If you watch Jeagoor's videos he has pretty much the most accurate style with most slings but it requires a lot of practice. Fastest? Fastest to reload amd release? Fastest muzzle velocity? Lots of different things go into speed.

Welcome from Pennsylvania!

I'll echo Kick's comments.  Try different styles and find what works for you.  Then practice it.  A style that works for one slinger may not work so well for others.  There's lots of guys here that like the Figure-8 style.  I think it looks cool, but I've never been able to get comfortable with it.

Not sure about fastest.  I've seen several mentions of a sidearm release being good for distance.  I use a sidearm throw for pretty much everything.

Accuracy can be achieved with most styles. Very personal. Just keep trying till you find one you like. Figure 8 is very repeatable and can get good accuracy with less effort in training but all styles can be accurate.

If by fastest you mean projectile speed then it will depend on your equipment. Some styles are better for shorter slings and some better for longer ones. Side arm is pretty good start.

If you mean fastest as in quickest movements to release it’s probably a tie between Apache, Greek, Byzantine or the infamous Turkey

Welcome to the forum!!

You have rotor throwers like Jaegoor, Hubert and others. Byzantine throwers like Mersa and IronGoober. Figure 8 throwers like myself and Curious Aardvark and every other style you can imagine that probably multiple people on here have mastered to some degree. All of us have success with our own styles.

It may sound overly simplified but really just try them all and choose whichever speaks to you. Then stick with it because that’s how you get really good. And use good consistent ammo. Also a big key to success.

Howdy from South Texas!

Those are good questions. Answers are not necessarily simple or straightforward, but you’ve come to the right place to get them!

Welcome from New Jersey.  If you ask twenty experienced slingers your questions you'll get twenty different answers.  My most accurate style is Underarm.  Apache is fastest at getting the projectile out of the sling.  If you're asking which style makes the projectile fly the fastest, for me it's Balearic.  Others would probably say Pirouette.  Slinging is a very individual thing.  My advice is to learn all of the styles and see what works best for you.
