Look what finally arrived! My plan is to attach this to the staff sling. Lindybeige did a video years ago about this idea and I've wanted to try one out ever since.

Finally I now have a staff sling that works and a spear head so I can finally test it out. I'm interested to see if it could also be a sort of pommel, working as a counterweight to the sling and maybe allow it to travel faster through the air. Of course, attaching a pointy thing to the end you hold MIGHT not be the best plan, so I won't be attaching it permanently.

That's a pretty neat idea.  I'm curious what the outcome would be in a distance competition between the normal staff sling and the "pommeled" version.

The pommel on a sword actually creates less force in a strike because the center of mass is moved away from the tip and toward the hand.  Which also make the sword feel lighter in weight.  But with the staff sling, it is speed you're looking for as opposed to impact force from the stick, so I could see this working.  I look forward to hearing about your tests with it.

And definitely be careful with the spear head pointing toward you!

Forgot to ask, what is the weight of the spear head?

99g. Having just got the end to fit in, I did a few (careful) throws without ammo and... maybe it's faster? I was doing it very carefully so it might be different out with ammo. I might try and make a sheath for it to make it at least a bit safer.
