I use standard yellow PVC electrical tubing, 6.5 feet in length tied to a broomhandle for rigidity
For darts I use foam earplugs. These have a near perfect fit. 
Push a nail through the middle of the plug for an awesome outdoor dart. They hit hard, they penetrate about 1 cm of dense plywood at 10 meters without extra sharpening.

For the mouthpiece I use a piece of cut plasticized rubber end cap, securely fitted to one end.

A different design I’ve heard of is taking a brass plumb bob and heating it up. Then push the heated conical end through milk jug plastic. Supposedly makes perfect cones for the back of darts. Jaukes way seems easier though.

I've tried paper cones, rubber, cones plastic cones, cotton balls and cork cones. The earplug cones work best since they have as good a fit as its going to get in this style of tubing. When pushing the nail through it helps to flatten them plugs first, then push or hammer it through in the middle at once.  As you proceed to slide it on to the backend of the nail, it will expand to its original size and fit neatly inside the tube. It slides with little friction inside the tube and has that air tight fit you're looking for, with a nice light pop to it when it exits the tube as you shoot.

I am going to try the 5ft big bore cold steel blowgun out this week on a loan basis and compare it to my homemade blowgun, see if it shoots better or not. I've yet to be convinced of a bigger bore, which in my mind translates to a lower pressure. We will see.

The big bore blow gun is fast and hit hard I have two and hunt and fish with them they are the best.

I've just had the oppertunity to test the two piece CS 5 footer and it shoots very well and accurate, due to the very nice fit of the dart.  I am sold on it and bought one. Previously said I wouldn't but damn it's nice. That consistency on the shots and the packability is what sold me on it. I now got something I can take in the woods with me more easily.

I ordered the the 2 foot extension piece to ad to it because to me 5 feet feels short to me for a blowgun and I believe I got the lungs for it.

I didn't go with their professional model, because it could not be extended. I think the regular one is plenty strong and heavy enough.
