Authentic Balearic bassetja, self-braided jute thing that's nearing end of useful life, go-to thing made of laundry line

Have you noticed that the ones you spend hours making seem to wear out quickest and the ones you throw together seem to last for years? Or is that just me?

My first sling made from cheap paracord and a slingshot pouch is going to outlive me I'm pretty sure :D

Bill. Ich arbeite oft an sehr aufwendigen slings. Bei mir halten sie sehr lange. 😁

@Bill- Yep sure have. Paracord is hard to beat. I bought some rather expensive irish bookbinding linen in the hopes that once made and properly waxed it will stick around for awhile. Tabs also go a long way towards keeping my retention cord together.

Polypropylene, the sheathed kind, seems as durable as paracord. It makes a good looking sling that lasts almost forever.
Jaegoor; your slings are always works of art. |

durability is one of my main concerns, for now.
always had issues with the release cord, but it seems to go better. And yes, my crudest slings will also surivive me. I guess it's because I don't use them anymore ;) |

My favorite actually is my authentic Balearic one, but I fear wearing down the release knot.

I had that with the Apache sling JudoP sent me an age ago. I had to eventually unwind it and then braid in some synthetic cord that could withstand the release. An added benefit, on top of the durability, is that now I can crack it like a whip.

I've always coated my slings with Elmer's glue (got the idea from a member). Helps with straightening twists and adds protective coating.

@cram
I've read about this tip too; but I never tried... Won't it rigidify the cord? |

@ Frondeur
It will. But I don't mind |

will try this... just under the release knot, 2-3 cm...
Hope it won't mess the whip effect |
