Who's active even if just reading?
I feel like we are a sporadic community just curious who's around.

CA can look at the stats and tell you what areas around the world are quietly lurking in here

I was a guest reader for a long time (couple years). So active now that I’ve joined up and delving further into slinging, I’m on every day but often don’t feel the need to post every day.

I think you all know I'm around. Usually can't get me to shut up :D

I am, as most can see. But I mostly read.

I do post quite a lot by now, 'cause I've got an internet access that allows me to do so. Most of times I don't.
But I read whenever I can.
Before that, I was a "passive reader" for more than a year.

I make a few comments in here every now and then...
Also I sling and teach slinging, a few thousand people by now.

I check in almost every day to read.  Comment when appropriate.  I do love every time there's a new sling picture. :)

One of the interesting things about a forum with as much history as this one is that almost everything has been discussed before. I don’t chime in as much as I used to because a lot of the conversations are the same discussion just with different people. I suspect that’s true of people who’ve been here longer than me too.

I like to look from time to time. This is the only thing i ever go on the computer for. Is there a way to format it to fit my phone..

I usually check in at least once a week or so, and post if I think have something worthwhile to add, which is not all that often.

Here. It would be interesting to have stats on how many unique lurkers hit this site over the course of a given week.

I'm also around once or twice a week. At the moment I don't contribute a lot as I'm a bit short on time and the slinging related projects I'm pursuing myself are not yet ready for presentation or discussion (i.e. mostly on hold  ;) ).

I read all of the threads.  I chime in on maybe half of them.  I have so many posts because I've been here a while though I'm not one of the original members. Good job with the info, c_a!

Even if only half of the visitors are actualy slinging, that makes quite a regiment.

How comes I almost never meet a slinger (or somone who slings... ::)) in real life?

Active site user here. I check in quite often but don't post often. There is some good info on here!

if you figure we get around five and a half million hits a year, you'd think I'd be able to find someone sensible to show ads to non-signed in people.
And give me money for the privilege.

Part of the reason is that the site has been around now for 16 years. So every web bot, spider and search engine gleaner knows where we are.

As for meeting another slinger.
there are 2826 slingers registered on the site. probably that number again who aren't registered worldwide.
So if we say around 6,000 slingers worldwide out of a population of about 7 billion.
Only one in every 1,116000 people might be a slinger.

It would be a small miracle if you did ever meet one :-)

By the way, I've actually met two people who used to sling when they were young. And this guy who almost bursted in tears as he saw my sling, and started to mumble about his parents or grandparents in Algeria. he said "we used to use this, back in the days, but now it's forbidden." Never checked that.
Well, that's all, as far as I can remember. 3 people. Not much, but I've definely beaten the odds, come to think about it....
