Title: Is this real?
Post by yonderstone on Feb 12th, 2019 at 9:55pm
I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet but I was wondering if you guys thought this was a legitimate sling hunting video.

https://youtu.be/1ic5ECjaKn4

If its legit, I am impressed. Not a bad primitive sling either.

I'll go with jaegoor.

doable - but if he'd actually killed the bird with the sling - it would most likely have been on video.

A good close range slinger. I've got to watch again to see if I can figure out how to make that sling.  Pretty cool hut too!

If he's a Negrito, who were the indigenous peoples of the Philippines, then there are still some of them who hunt with slings.  The ones I knew had curly hair, though.

The wild chickens in the Philippines that I saw were brown, and looked like Bantams.  I suppose there could be white ones, just because I never saw one doesn't mean there aren't any.

I agree with everybody else, it's doubtful he hit the chicken.  And several rotations tend to get caught in the brush.  Which was my problem when I attempted to use one for squirrels.  And I used a rather short sling.

Thank you everyone for checking it out. I tend to agree that the footage was likely staged (fake). I hope someday to find a video of a successful sling hunt. If so I will keep everyone here in the loop.

I'd be pleased if I could sling like that

Like jaegoor I also have hunted with the sling but I don't feel that it's something that should be filmed for sport or entertainment.
Although I would like to see footage of jaegoor hunting, the skill he displays is enough for me to belive his stories. I do not need the footage to belive it's possible or true from him.
And his training videos show why.

I very much believe this video was meant to be comedy.
