You might have to go through kickstarter. That is geared more towards businesses.  You can set it up with goals and sending small pieces as thank you for anyone contributing money, towards your goal. I watch a lot if kickstarter videos when i get bored

There are trade and craft shows you can try. What kind of stuff do you make? Look for groups that would be interested in what you make.

crowd funding works in 2 ways.

1) you beg people to give you money. In return you can offer incentives. You don't need to, but it probably helps :-)

2) you claim to be raising money towards commercial production of something. This can be anything from films and video game on up to electronic gadgets. You claim to be selling the thing and the money is towards production - the interesting thing is that at no point does anyone ever get any money back should you not send them their thing that they have supposedly 'bought'.
Most of these tend to crash and burn as it turns out that makers are - on the whole - really lousy business people and fail utterly to budget properly.

But basically the 'go-fund me' approach is begging :-)

Thanks for the input guys. There’s a few things in my business that I would like to take to the next level and my resources are finite.
I think I will look into even if just to understand how it works more fully.
CA- I’ve always had to do it all and I am glad I do. I never thought of it as begging but that’s valid. That being said, if people are out there wanting to give their money away I don’t see why not to put my name in the roster:)

My advice: don’t start a crowdfunding campaign cold. You need an audience first.
Here’s how I would do it:
1. Go start a YouTube channel where you show people how to do interesting things with leather. Don’t be too sales-ey, but in the description, you can link back to your website where people can buy stuff.  Most people prefer to buy things than make it themselves, but showing how it’s made will make them want one.  This will also help you network with other similar companies.
2. Post something interesting at least once a week, and avoid the temptation to post unrelated things on the same channel. It doesn’t have to be totally unique. Just be entertaining and put your personal twist on it and you will attract followers.
3. Once you have a decent number of followers, ask them what they want to see next and use that feedback to do a crowdfunding campaign based on what you know people already want.

That’s a slower process than I think you are hoping for, but it takes years of hard work to become an “overnight success”. If your crowdfunding campaign is focused on your own personal benefit.. it will fail. But give the people what they want, and your business will grow.
