Title: Cudgels, clubs, skull crackers, maces, and other blunt weapons!
Post by ThracianSlinger26 on Dec 14th, 2018 at 2:14pm
So, clubs and cudgels are among the first weapons created my man kind. Feel free to post your blunt weapons on this thread! I'll start first, with my 2 bashers:
This small boy has a pig bone head, a oak handle, and a jute wrapping with some beads. This could easily stun and maim someone or something, and a strike to the jaw or the chin would be quite gruesome

Made out of ash, the head is fire hardened, it has a couple of decorative kill-notches, and it's finished with lard and mineral oil. Not a lot to say about it, it's the most simple of weapons, but so deadly. Also, when winter ends, i'll go cut another ash blank. It's huge, about 4-5 times bigger than this one, so stay tuned for that beast! But untill then,a close up on the head :

Awesome! I have this ball bearing monkey fist which was made by Nooneofconsequence (and very well made at that) and then I also have a hammer I made myself from metal pipe fittings. Sadly I don't have any photos and it's at the Summer cottage but it's something similar to this:

http://www.survivorninja.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/453/2015/09/pummel-melee-weapon-e1443550397140.jpg

I used a t-section piece like the one in the photo but I used an end piece to give it a flat face:

Then on the other side I gave it this piece to act as a sort of spike:

I used wood for the handle because I couldn't find metal pipe anywhere for some reason. The wood handle works well enough.

That monkey fist flail looks and probably works great! And that hammers sounds interesting, and the fact it's made out of pipes is even better! You could weigh the head down with some sand or maybe even lead.

Yeah the monkey fist is great. If you pull the ring which has a pin attached, it then unravels to a short rope dart which I can almost swing about and not hit myself :D I think I will try and improve and mod the hammer sometime in the future. One idea is to add some short peice of metal into the "spike" to actually make it a proper spike. I mean it's prety devastating as is but a proper spike would be awesome.

thracianslinger can you please resize your pictures before posting.
currently you're posting around 2.5 mb.
resize to 800x600 and you should be able to get them down to about 0.1mb.

Thanks for the kind words Kick!
I  originally designed it to be carried in a pocket, and the chrome steel ball would be difficult to drill and tap if you wanted a screw-in spike, but you could easily untie the loop that holds the monkey fist and swap it for a steel dart. If you do add a spike, please post pictures!

I have a few extra monkeys fist lanyards lying around if anyone else wants to trade for something.

Well they're well deserved. I've tried making monkey fists and I've never got one as neat as your one :D

I used MSPaint to reduce your pictures.  I used to stretch/skew function to reduce them down to 30%.

So, i'm here with a new cudgel! A war shillelagh, in fact. It's made out of an Apple tree which i uprooted. The rootball made a nice striking surface. It's also extremly heavy, about 2 kgs. Quite a nice basher. Finished with mineral oil.
To give you a perspective, each tile is 30x30 cm

I broke my club recently, it was made of jam wood (Acacia accuminata ) a very dense strong wood , seems like using jam wood to split jam wood staves vertically is how you break jam wood. Lucky I've got a few bits laying around to make a new club.
