Does anyone know what's the highest throw ever with a sling? I am just a beginner and my throws usually deviate to the left (being right handed). I practised an hour and a half (lifetime total) and still cannot find a way to throw straight forward except roman style. I find it most interesting seeing how high the projectile arrives (I estimate around 30 metres/yards of maximum height) as it's pretty difficult for me to throw further than 50 metres/yards away. Welcome from Finland! As with all things, it just takes practice to iron out the small things which can affect your throw. Release time is the hardest thing to master and the most important thing for accuracy so it's just practice then more practice I'm afraid.

Welcome to the forum. Practice makes perfect. If you can make the stone travel forwards after and hour and a half you're doing quite well. That distance is quite good for so short a practice session.

Hello.  Your first sling looks a lot better than my first sling.  I think you might want to rethink throwing straight up, it's going to come down rather fast and if you lost track of it going up...

That's usually described as helicopter on the forum but yeah every slinging style has it's own variations and names and there are no "official" names.
