Good stuff, TMS. I used to do fractals and graphic artwork. Some of our long term members might remember that. I haven't played with it in years though. None of the necessary programs are downloaded in this computer. I also played around with drawing but most of my stuff looked like cartoons.

I know, lol. I wanted to be a tattoo artist, and when I told my artist at the time. His look was priceless and his response was "I don't think there is a big demand for it", funny thing is, now a days I see a ton of people with simple stick figure tattoos.

Did these when I had nothing else to do in high school, finally out of there and going to college this fall. Also, would you consider ceramics to fit in this artwork thread? Or is it more for drawings?

Personally I share the opinion of Duchamp and his Readymades that something is art if it labelled art and presented as such. It's a good position to take if you can't draw, paint or create sculptures...

If it takes imagaination to make, it should be classed as art.

Art is transferring a vision in your head to a medium that others can see, hear, touch, taste or feel.

That means if you are one of those people that can really cook, IMHO, you are making art.

Painting, music, drawing, dance and sculpture seem to get all the all the glory but that is very limiting. Art can be completely functional, its ability to function is the art.

A sling can be two pieces of string with a bit of leather, the art comes in when it is twirled around and used to toss things. We aren't even going to get into the braided ones and the multicolored braided and twined ones. Which is an art that is used to make art...

Below are some pictures of my favorite works.

A bit of a story behind this one, the teacher said to make a animal wind chime, like a fish or something so most people did just that, made a fish, but I decided to make a dragon. The head is the best part of the peice to me, and when I brought it home right when I stepped in my room it fell apart as I had to tie 2 songs together to hold it together since I made one too short. Still need to re string it, but thankfully my floors are carpeted and nothing broke.

And here’s the last thing I made. I used a leaf repeatedly to make the design. Also, all the little veins and such of the leaf didn’t all transfer so I had to go over them all, and improvise in spots that they didn’t transfer at all.

Huh, what a coincidence, I had no idea Drakolith had something to do with dragons, I thought I made the name up. It’s a combination of my middle name, Drake, and monolith.

Very nice work Morphy! Out of curiosity, about how long would it take you on average to do one of those?

Those are on a fairly small sketchbook so not too long. Maybe an hour or bit longer for a finished picture. I sketched at work so the book is full of half finished pictures.

By the way you could probably sell that leaf sculpture for good money. It looks very professional.

Wow, that’s really impressive. You should really do more, you have a real talent there, drawing something like that so quick, even if it is just on a small area.

Thank you. Probably, but I wouldn’t sell it. Though, once I get a job and become stable income wise with some money to spend, I definitely plan on buying/making myself a kiln and making ceramics as a hobby, probably sell some.

LOL Unfortunately I don't believe any Rat Man and Snobin comic books still exist. My best friend's mom thought they were too weird for words and threw them all away. The only one I know of that may still be in existence is inside of a wall in what used to be my bedroom inside of what used to be my family's home. I was promised the house but it ended up not being left to me. You know how those things work. So someday someone is going to replace that wall and find a very strange boy's very strange artwork from 1967 inside. I can still draw Rat Man and Snobin as I used to though. I'll have to do that sometime soon.

Thought I would post up a contribution. A few years ago I had some sea shells lying around and I thought "It would be cool to have some sea monsters in those shells" so I went ahead and made them. They hang out on a table in our living room.

Tin foil skeleton, latex and cotton skin, old rusty nails for claws, a painted glass cabochon for an eye and some paint. Nice and easy and makes for pretty damn cool looking monsters. I should make some more at some point.

Thanks! It's surprising what you can achieve with pretty basic materials. I really need to get back into making little monters and props here and there. I've just been working on bigger projects like the gauntlet which take ages and a lot of motivation to get on with.

Well I just made the mask but I do have a large army blanket I've been using as a cloak with the help of a pennanular brooch and with that, the mask and just the right photo filter...
