An interesting video with several ancient weapons (though I doubt the so called "expertise" when they call a sling a slingshot:)

Those Germanic warriors also looked a little... amateur with the slings. They seemed very focused on spinning it around their head and the release was a secondary thought.

Yes, and I don't quite believe the stated 100-200 meter head shot expectancy.

Especially with a rock.

OTOH, most slingers would reasonably expect to hit a formation of Romans at that distance.

Of course, with their shields, armor and helmets, only a hit to the face could be counted on to have much effect.

Not trying to belittle the helicopter (I use it too), but the slingers in the video didn't seem to have a good snap or throw at the end of their spinning.

Helicopter is still my best throw and yeah... theirs is not good...

Remember David Morningstar: do not rotate the arm at the armpit or the elbow, rotate at the wrist.

I've only been slinging for the better part of five months and I could probably do better than them. This is the kinda crap I fixed up by my third active session!

I always cringe at the amateurish throws of the so called experts in these type of shows. They should really contact someone from Slinging.org to do these demonstrations. The same when it comes to the usage of the sling in video games or films.

lol and the last time david hit anything was back in 2016 :-)
That said I reckon he's done more practice than me this year.
Helicopter is hands down the hardest style to be accurate with, it's why i never teach it to beginners.

Plus with helicopter beginners, the missile can go pretty much anywhere in a full sphere surrounding the slinger.

Anything to get the sling more notoriety. But ya, those were awful throws for an expert.

It's taken me years to manage to get my shot, using helicopter, within a 45 degree quadrant front.

They called it a sling shot and 20 shots in a min. is insane. >:(
