Title: Made a sale!
Post by Tomas on May 29th, 2013 at 10:47pm
Sold my very first sling to a fisherman today! He commissioned it a week or two ago. Paracord and leather. I found it an absolute pain to splice the loop but I like the finished product. I tried to sell it for $40 and he gave me $50 instead.

How big is the pouch?

The pouch is prolly 5 inches long and 2.5-3 inches wide. But it narrowed a bit when I molded it to have a cupped shape. There is also some leather to each end of the pouch that has been wrapped in the cords. I would say this sling an easy way of making an apache style sling but without having to sew the pouch. I always had my sewing ruined by stones scraping and tearing at it.
Also, thanks for the compliments guys! When you compliment me, you compliment yourselves because I learned it all from all y'all!

for splicing into a braid one of the guides suggested leaving a few inches above where you start to braid. Then once you've braided the loop, marry the cords and braid the splice in one go rather than weaving it in and out one by one. Don't know if you tried that but I thought it was useful.

Congrats on the sale!

Hmmm, I started braiding out from the pouch. And spliced it the slow hard way. I wish I had a better less time consuming option without whipping or leaving a raw end
