Because there is a possibility that when the petitioning thread is opened I will be inundated with petitions, I am calling for volunteers that would be willing to help me with sorting and reviewing them.  If you would like to help with this, simply express your interest below.  The candidates chosen to assist will be announced (hopefully) by Saturday night.

    Well, for the most part, the merit award requirements are objective.  They don't generally require too much in the way of judgement.  That's why the Sling Crafter 4 discussion is such a big deal.  It's one of those awards that may require judging to determine if a sling "qualifies".  But in the case of most of them, it's pretty much cut and dry.  Either they did or they didn't.  
    The main thing that you may have issues with is questions regarding the Specifics of the qualifications.  Remember your question about shotgun slings?  Stuff like that.  But, if that were to happen it's a simple matter to just ask me whay the intent of that rule is.  No sweat.
