Okay so it just occured to me that while we've got no end of pictures of slings - we have very few pics of slinging.org members.

So this here's a thread to attach a picture of yourself.  Naked pictures will probably be removed  ;) So keep it clean :-)

Cordage is right, I used 3 ply cotton rope, not something commonly used with those tools ^^

Did they have cargo pants back then? ;) I'm sorry, it could not resist. But seriously. Very, very cool. I enjoy period reinactments, especially a person's back story to thier persona and their gear. Did you make everything yourself? I saw a presentation once where they tested wooden shields and showed how rawhide wrapped edges added strength and durability to the shield. It was cool. You should show detail of your outfit and gear. Nicely done.

Yes i made my gear,except the tunic was sewn by a girl,and the  sword was forged by a friend. I got into a romanian reenactement group called Terra Dacica Aeterna ,and i'm playing the role of a balearic slinger as a mercenary numerus serving in the roman army,aiding in the conquest of Dacia 2nd century BC. Here's a pic of my shield with a leather cover,which will have another strip of leather installed acting as a rim.Also the hispanic type short sword,still needs a scabard:

Jlasud, your gear is really well done (as a blacksmith, I'm talking mostly about your iron stuff).
Just a bit consideration: these belt's rivets look a bit too modern in my opinion, why don't you replace them with some small iron nails? Making rivets out of nails is really funny and cheap; it will also give your belt a much older looking  ;)

It's great stuff anyway; I'm waiting to cast a bronze harpoon and then I'll be ready to show you my Picenian VIIth century (b.C) equipment: summer and winter clothes and war stuff - I'll forge the sword next Saturday!

I never did play baldurs gate but R.A Salvatore is the author of the books those games are based on. Excellent in his earlier works. Some serious carnage and blood throughout:)

Yeah, I'd like to find one of his books! I really have few scifi or fantasy books, but I grew up playing BG and Icewind Dale... great days  :D

Can't see the fibula nor the belt hook... too bad for you ^^
Not sure about the pants fibers but at least it's 100% natural with some wool inside (firetested). It is too short and maybe not wide enough (a small 160cm, around 5'3" for you strange mesurers), as it lacks in folds.
The tunic is linen (100%, that explain the untidy look) and the cloak heavy wool.
The quiver is leather (maybe even veg tannned) and poised flax, the sling is leather and flax cords, quite long.
The slinger is French 8-)

And if you want a good laught, look out for the shoes here. They are killbuzz, but given the weather, I prefered put them rather than going barefoot.

Here I am in my Greek slinger/shepherd outfit. I'm going for more of a 'Rustic' look. The Period in question? I'd say it could probably stretch out anywhere from 500-100 B.C.

Made the felt hat myself (Petasos), though not historically accurate as I only had Alpaca fleece and not sheep fleece. I sewed the clothing myself and made the pin for the Chlamys (Which is likely obscured by my hair!). I am also wearing a Chiton but good luck trying to find it.

I also have a wooden club and two pouches filled with lead glandes. Though I probably won't bring the club to medieval faires because it makes me look like I have a large part of the certain anatomy sticking out from the cloak!
