Title: Description of slinging style in Vanuatu

http://books.google.com/books?id=mYQIScVZveAC&lpg=PA209&dq=slings%20are%20known%20everywhere%20in%20the%20islands&lr=&as_brr=3&pg=PA209#v=onepage&q=&f=false

Quote:
One end of the sling cord is placed round the midle finger of the right hand while the end with the knot is held with the thumb and index finger. The stone is held in the pocket with the left hand. The right hand then performs much the same movement as it would do to throw a stone direct, namely, it is raised to the left and passed behind the head to the right and then delivered with a powerful swing forwards. The left hand follows the movement until the stone is pressed into the strap by centrifugal force. When the stone in the sling is moving in the right direction the end of the cord is released by the thumb and index finger and the stone continues its flight.

Sounds like this to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdOIn5j2jR4

a type of Greek style i guess? the Greek style is also held by the opposite hand, and swung around over the head, and release with a powerful swipe
