heya! i'm interested in sling myths, legends, fictions, historical tales, ect ect. the only ones i know of are biblical stuff and the british fictional series redwall by brian jacques. if anyone knows of any other litrature to do with slings i'd be interested. 8-) thanks!

I guess the best thing to do is go over this site. There are all kinds of stories from myths and legends on here.

If ya have access to JSTOR there are a lot of historical stuff on the slings there, but ya have to dig though some stuff to get to them and be connected from a libabry that is a subscriber to their services.

But I agree with sling badgers start digging through the Project Golith and the General forums for a good chunk of what you are looking for. Or dig up ones that we haven't heard and post them here.

There are many novels with slinging in them. Clan of the Cave Bear, The Rift War Saga, Lucifer's Hammer, just to name a few.

I mentioned this in another thread, but in case you don't spot it, and haven't already discovered the book yourself, IMHO the all-time description of sling combat in fiction is the duel in This Immortal by Roger Zelazny.

isn't lucifers hammer the jerry pournelle one with the big rock hitting earth ?
Or am I getting it confused with something else.

Certainly don't remember any slings in the pournelle one.

At one point of the story they slung molatov cocktail at monsters.

nope don't remember that - but then I was never a fan of pournelle & niven together. So probably only read it the once and that many years ago.

i recently found a great book with something to do with slings called ancient medieval siege weapons, like i said, it's great. ;D
