Title: Trading Post Rules
Post by Chris on Apr 6th, 2006 at 6:25pm
Due to popular demand, a trading section has been setup for members use.  The primary use should be for trade, and not monetary transactions.  If you want to sell items, please do so off-site. PM each other, exchange emails, and off you go. Be forewarned that the moderators may remove the entire thread!

Slinging.org claims no responsibility for damages resulting from items traded on this forum.  Slinging.org can also make no guarantees as to the quality or safety of any items posted here.

Items that can be traded:
-Slings
-Projectiles (excluding explosives, firearm ammunition, glass, or similar)
-Other primitive weapons (whips, atlatls, arrows, bolas, etc.)
-Primitive Materials (leather, plant fibers, wood, sinew, etc.)

Please use your common sense!
Chris

yes but at least you don't set things on fire in other people's driveways :-)
that shows some common sense lol

You set nor yourself, neither other people on fire (although, when I saw your sig, I wondered if it is so...), that shows a bunch of common sense.

i have actually set someones pants on fire before. they were those polyester athletic pants and i accidently poked him with a burning stick.

kelthen, you are hereby certified a man with no common sense ;D.

in answer to curious aardvark, i also tried to make a rocket with petrol in my friends driveway. it didnt work :'(

Title: Re: Trading Post Rules
Post by curious_aardvark on Mar 19th, 2007 at 3:47pm
yeah, petrol's more of an explosive than a propellant. Stick it in the warhead of a rocket to create a big fireball but it's not going to lift it - not in one piece anyway :-)

I think we can safely state that when common snese was being handed out you were somewhere else setting fire to something :-)

Oh you guys want big.....Now in no way shape or form am I going to say if this actually happened to me or not.....Lets just say that I happen to know this guy who when he was 17-18 years old set about 150 acres of prime ranchland ablaze and it kept reingniting for three days. But this is no way submitted for the running of the no common sense title :)

Can knives be traded?  I am OK with items being traded/swapped for a no cash exchange but the list of trade items is a bit skimpy. Could it be expanded? Its your site so its up to you.  Thanks, 1srelluc

I put alot of baking soda and vinigar in a bottle put the cap on and threw it. It wouldn't blow up so there was a boulder that I hit the cap on and it blew up in my hand and I have 2 scars to prove it ;D

you're in america right ?
just go into a hardware store and buy some :-)

Title: Re: Trading Post Rules
Post by xxkid123 on Mar 10th, 2009 at 4:42pm
no, you can't find explosives in  a hardware store, the closest you could get to explosives would be gunpowder

Title: Re: Trading Post Rules
Post by Lycurgus on Mar 10th, 2009 at 6:38pm
Gunpowder is an explosive.
It is classed as a low explosive as opposed to a high explosive but it will still make a good old bang! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

You are spoiled over there you know. Oh how I wish I could have just walked into a hardware store and bought gunpowder in my teens. Mind you, given how close I came to burning my garage down and nearly blowing myself up with what I could get hold of back then maybe it's just as well I couldn't. ;D

You could always find instructions to make them, most of the 'ingredients' are available from a specialized art dealer (who sells paint components) you could at-least make thermite not explosive but still interesting - ah the joys of gcse and above chemistry- or plastic explosives failing that you could always use some more primitive methods.

Title: Re: Trading Post Rules

i know, but the problem is that on a google search, all that didn't have a complex chemical equation told you to

a) do baking soda and vinegar

b) smoke bombs, saltpeter and stuff

c) stink bombs, hair

d) dry ice and hot water, or stuff from a battery

none of it what i'm looking for

So in other words - you've looked at the instruction and didn't understand them.
perhaps that's telling you to NOT try and make high explosives in your house.
'Saltpetre and stuff'
The fact that you don't consider gunpowder to be dangerous enough for you is scary.

There is a reason instructions for making high explosives at home are few and far to find.
It is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS and frequently fatal.
And if you don't understand the chemical equations then you really have no place in mixing the chemicals up.
Gunpowder can be used for everything from propelling model rockets to blowing up large structures. Given a little imagination it's plenty dangerous enough for most people.

The fact that you want something more dangerous that you don't have to think about to make - pretty much speaks for itself in suggesting that you NOT be allowed near even matches for quite a few years yet :-)
Your parents are correct in this respect :-)

lol, i was thinking more of a nuclear warhead, but i guess some gun powder isn't so bad

Title: Re: Trading Post Rules
Post by curious_aardvark on Mar 23rd, 2009 at 11:53am
nuclear warheads are quite easy to make.
As long as you have the right kit and have read the manual :-)
And getting the right kit isn't that easy - good job really lol

So that's you ruled out again lol

Gawd, kid, you sound so much like me at your age. I had the advantage of a father who was a chemist though. However, I must point out, I was lucky I survived a few of the things I did try. Sometimes my father was a little too accommodating.

something else i want to say a few months late, i think gunpowder is okay, but what i really like is stuff that can be set off without the need of fire. like a pull pin or something that lets two types of chemicals mix and explode

Water and magnesium. or water and sulfur. Oh and nuclear stuff, not worth it. Buddy o'mine got instructions for counter-top nuclear fission, and it costs about $7,000 to make a reactor that only produces 1 measly electron every couple hours.

Fire=Fun, Explosives=Dismemberment. Got it, xxKid? Stick to the basics.

Because flaming pitch has a tendancy to stick to your clothes. Your friends clothes. You. And well, anything else. It's dangerous. Permanently disfigured dangerous. Stay away. I'm only 6 years older than you, and I'm a pyro. Whenever I did anything I did it with the fire chief(and I didn't start until much later). We've become so close that he invites my family to cook-outs. Don't do ANYTHING without supervision.

Dude, you are just like me....
Some advice- play with fire, you get burned.
play with explosives, you get blown up.
I have had firecrackers go off in me hand, no hurt b/c i was wearing steel gauntlets. Busted some of the gauntlet up though.

Funny how I am sorta lecturing someone older than me. I might just be the youngest person on the forums.
